Learning Resource and Information Centre
The Learning Resource & Information Centre (LRI) Centre has adopted a modern approach to a traditional school library. Facilities have been upgraded to provide more opportunities for learning and to offer a venue for enhancing social contact whilst learning.
The LRI Centre is equipped with:
- Five flat screen computers with Internet access and Encarta 2005
- A selection of board games for entertainment and education
- DVDs and CD-Roms available for borrowing and use in the LRI Centre
- Subject-specific books, fiction, non-fiction and reference titles
- A range of topical magazines and journals
- Provision for pupils to draw and do craft work
The LRI Centre supports the After School Homework Club by offering similar facilities during the school day.
The Library Club offers scheduled time for year groups only:
Monday & Thursday lunchtime - Year 8
Tuesday & Friday lunchtime - Year 9
Wednesday lunchtime - Year 10
Senior pupils are welcome at any time.
The Library Club groups and senior pupils can also take advantage of the Stationery Shop which runs during their designated lunchtimes.
The LRI Centre is staffed by one full-time Librarian and a Teacher Co-ordinator. A team of 10 Year 13 pupils help and support the Library Club and run the Stationery Shop.
