Preparation for Life After School
The School provides a comprehensive programme of Careers Guidance which helps pupils to identify the skills that are required in the world of work. Preparation for life after school is encouraged through a varied programme including:
- Work experience - offered to all Key Stage 4 pupils and those in sixth form completing vocational courses
- Work shadowing - is organised for Year 13 pupils completing AS/A2 level courses to give them an insight into professional roles and responsibilities
- Industrial visits - provide pupils with experience of the real working environment and enhance their understanding of industry and production
- Industrial Awareness Conferences - enables Year 12 pupils to develop their interview skills with the help of advisers from a wide range of occupational areas
- Individual careers interviews - organised for all Year 12 pupils with Careers Officers from the Training & Employment Agency
- Annual Careers Convention - organised in conjunction with the Boys’ Model
