Moving to the 'Big School'?
As the Belfast Model School for Girls is a Full-Service Extended School we reach out into all sectors of the community. We are creating greater links with the primary schools in the area by sending subject teachers and two full-time transition teachers from the Girls' Model to work with the pupils in the primary schools. We are hoping that the daunting transition from primary to secondary school will be made a little easier as the children get to know some secondary teachers and find out that they are not as scary as they seem!
We undertake a variety of activities from taking after school clubs to teaching dance, music, ICT and drama and helping small groups with numeracy and literacy skills.
So if a child comes home from primary school and talks about the some nice teacher from the 'Big School' taking his or her class that day - you'll know who it is.
