Model pupil wins art competition
2 May 2007
The art competition in question was part of an ongoing education programme into tackling knife crime. It was a PSNI initiative involving pupils aged 9 to 18.
Ms. E. McWilliams worked with 9M2 producing art work with strong messages outlining the dangers of young people carrying knives. The intention was to make pupils aware of the dangers with open discussion, resulting in artistic outcomes. Nadine Clarke was the overall winner of the secondary junior section. Her artwork was well designed with effective layout and a strong message.
Our school will receive a computer, a prestigious trophy, Tesco vouchers and money for the art department. Nadine received a portable DVD player and art materials. The prize was presented at the City Hall by Penny Holloway, the mother of Thomas Devlin, who was tragically stabbed as he walked home with friends, along the Somerton Road in August last year.
Congratulations to Ms McWilliams and Nadine Clarke!
